摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving assisting device for a vehicle enabling a driver to commonly use a target inter-vehicle time continuously even in follow-up control at low-speed zone and follow-up control at middle and high speed zones with a natural feeling. <P>SOLUTION: In automatic follow-up control by a travelling control unit 5, a target inter-vehicle time Tt is set through computation on the basis of an own vehicle speed V0, a target acceleration 'a' is computed on the basis of an inter-vehicle distance L between a preceding vehicle and the own vehicle, a speed Vf of the preceding vehicle, the own vehicle speed V0 and the inter-vehicle time Tt, and automatic braking control and automatic acceleration control, etc., are performed. Here, the arithmetic setting of the inter-vehicle time Tt is computed by a function of the speed V0.
