PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system for an information terminal in which an information terminal apparatus inside a local network can be remotely controlled and a high security level can be ensured without changing a security policy that the existent local network has.

SOLUTION: The remote control system for the information terminal is provided with: a remote access terminal connected to a public network; a local network connected to the public network; an information terminal apparatus which is connected to the local network and remotely controlled from the remote access terminal; an information terminal controller connected to the local network; and a gateway server which controls two-way communication between the remote access terminal and the information terminal apparatus, and the information terminal controller. When the information terminal apparatus is not initiated, the information terminal controller initiates the information terminal apparatus.
