PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse modulation type photodetection system for suppressing misdetections due to disturbance light, and to provide a pulse modulation type photodetection method and electronic equipment that use it. SOLUTION: The pulse modulation type photodetection system is provided with a light-emitting element 14 for projecting pulse light synchronized with a pulsed signal, a light-receiving element 15 for light-receiving reflected light or transmitted light by an object A to be detected on the pulsed light, a signal processing circuit 18 for detecting the presence of the object A by a light-receiving signal from the light-receiving element 15, and a synchronization timing circuit 12 for generating the pulsed signal for making each pulse light-emit a plurality number of times during a single cycle.
