摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for measuring human walking speed capable of directly measuring human walking speed in real time. SOLUTION: A magnetic field generating means is attached to one leg, and a magnetic detection means is attached to the other leg. On the basis of the strength of a magnetic field, the crossing speed of both legs is computed to measure human walking speed in the method. Both a regression line indicating the relation between the crossing speed of one person and his walking speed and a strength distribution of a measuring system acquired when the magnetic generating means is fixed and the magnetic field detection means is shifted in a direction, a direction perpendicular to the magnetic field and a traveling direction when both means are attached to both legs, are determined in advance. In a stage for actually measuring walking speed, the crossing speed is computed on the basis of the strength of the magnetic field detected with walking and the strength distribution of the measuring system determined in advance. By inputting the computed crossing speed to the regression line inherent to the person determined in advance, the person's constantly changing walking speed is directly measured in real time.
