PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a water-absorbing resin, by which the particle diameters of a water-absorbing resin having especially excellent blood absorbing properties are controlled in a wide range only by control of the rotary direction/speed of a stirring blade and the deposition amount of a resin to a polymerizer is significantly reduced and a yield is improved. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a water-absorbing resin, by which an aqueous solution comprising (a) (meth)acrylic acid, (b) a compound containing two or more ethylenic unsaturated bonds or (c) a compound containing two or more functional groups to be reacted with the functional group of (a) the (meth)acrylic acid and (d) a radical polymerization initiator is subjected to reversed phase suspension polymerization in a hydrophobic organic solvent containing a surfactant while rotating a stirring blade, the rotary direction and/or the rotational speed of the stirring blade is periodically changed.
