PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate manufacturing of an upper frame for composing a doorway frame for an elevator. SOLUTION: The upper frame 3 is formed to have a U-shaped cross section on the doorway side by bend work to a plate member, and in an upper plate 33 and a bottom plate 31 of it, hole parts (or projections) 3a and 3a are formed. In the meanwhile, at right and left end parts of the upper frame 3 having the U-shaped cross section, a pair of U-shaped closing members 9 and 9 are engaged and inserted. On upper and lower pieces 9a and 9b of the U-shaped closing members 9 and 9, projections (or recessed) 9aa and 9ba to be engaged with the hole parts (or projections) 3a and 3a are provided. By thus using the closing members 9 and 9 of simple structure, an opening part 32 of the upper frame 3 is reinforced, thereby the doorway frame of the elevator with excellent appearance can be easily manufactured.
