PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device, a carrying mechanism, and a carrying method, capable of determining a position where a medium is carried correctly and simply without deteriorating detection precision of sensors. SOLUTION: A printing mechanism 30 prints images on the medium 5. A carrying belt 11 carries the medium 5. First and second sensors 2a, 2b, and 4a are respectively disposed along the medium carrying direction of the carrying belt 11 at a first position upstream of a printing position of the printing mechanism 30, and a second position downstream of the first position and upstream of the printing position to detect the medium carried by the carrying belt 11. A CPU 41 changes set conditions for the second sensor 4b disposed at the second position in accordance with result of detection by the first sensors 2a and 2b disposed at the first position.
