A continuous pore elastomer capable of instantaneously absorbing water, characterized in that the elastomer consists of a polyurethane and has a three-dimensional network pore structure, the average size of skeleton thereof being = 20 µm while = 80% skeleton has a size of 2 to 20 µm, and that the elastomer has an apparent density of 0.2 to 0.4 g/cm<SUP>3</SUP> and contains a surfactant of = 8 HLB value. Further, there is provided a process for producing the continuous pore elastomer, characterized in that there is included the step of carrying out water extraction of a pore forming agent from a molding. Still further, there are provided a water absorbing roller and swab obtained from the continuous pore elastomer.
