<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording sheet which concurrently has excellent glossiness, image uniformity (dot roundness) and coating liquid handleabilities, high ink absorption/absorption rate, print density and ink acceptance layer strength. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing an inkjet recording sheet, a coating liquid application layer is formed by applying a coating liquid which shows hydrophilic nature/hydrophobic nature by a temperature change, and contains a temperature-sensitive polymer compound responsible for thickening or gelatinating the coating liquid in a temperature region indicating the hydrophilic nature, and a pigment, to the surface of a support or the surface of at least, one undercoat layer formed on the support, in a temperature region where the temperature-sensitive polymer compound becomes hydrophobic. Further, the coating liquid application layer is thickened or gelatinated by changing the temperature upto a temperature region where the temperature-sensitive polymer compound becomes hydrophilic, and a surface coating liquid containing a cationic compound is applied to the thickened or gelatinated application layer so that the latter is impregnated with the former.
