PROCESS FOR COPPER FREE CHROME PLATING OF A VEHICLE WHEEL SURFACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method of a vehicle wheel capable of avoiding any adverse effect on the environment caused by complicated operations and materials to be used, and less in the required time and cost. SOLUTION: A cutting tool 50 having a hard tip is pressed with a uniform pressure against a surface 42 of a vehicle wheel 40 as the wheel 40 is rotated to smooth and seal the surface. The smoothed and sealed wheel surface 42 is then chrome plated with a process comprising a step of applying a nickel layer directly upon the smoothed and sealed wheel surface 42 and a step of applying a chromium layer directly over the nickel layer.
