PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-emitting semiconductor laser array which enables rapid driving. SOLUTION: The device has an insulator substrate 1, a surface-emitting semiconductor laser array which has an electrode pattern 12 formed of a conductive material on the insulator substrate 1; and a plurality of p-type semiconductor regions 4 comprising an n-type semiconductor substrate 5, and an active layer and a current constriction layer formed on the n-type semiconductor substrate 5 having an anode electrode 2 enclosing a projection window for light emission in a front surface side of the plurality of p-type semiconductor regions. The surface light emitting type semiconductor laser array is electrically connected to the electrode pattern 12 and is also physically bonded to it, and an isolation groove 13 separating the n-type semiconductor region 5 of the surface light emitting type semiconductor laser array reaches the insulator substrate 1 until it separates at least a corresponding portion of the electrode pattern 12.
