<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector to which a contact is fixed strongly and brought into a pressurized contact with both sides of a connecting object with sufficient spring force. <P>SOLUTION: The contact 11 assembled into a housing 10 is operated by an operating member 13 provided with a cam 24. The contact is provided with a retainer 22 retained to a housing, a contact 18 to connect to a flat cable 17, a shaft 16 with the contact connected to be movable to the retainer, an operating part 19 extending from a shaft in the direction opposite to the contact and operated by the cam to bring the contact into a pressurized contact toward the flat cable with the shaft as a supporting point, a cam bearing 23 receiving the cam, and a terminal 21 to connect to a printed circuit board. The retainer and the cam bearing are installed to face the operating part.
