<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide edge emission type and direct emission type backlight units having good color purity and improved light efficiency at reduced production costs by using a novel diffusion sheet. <P>SOLUTION: Each light excitation-diffusion sheet 100, 100b, 100c and 100d for the backlight units adapted to absorb a portion of light emitted from a light source of a blue wavelength or a mixed wavelength of a blue wavelength and at least one other wavelength, to emit light at different wavelengths from the light emitted from the light source, and to transmit the remaining light emitted from the light source comprises a light-exciting material 30 exciting and amplifying the light from the light source and a light-diffusing material 40 scattering and diffusing the light from the light source. The light-exciting material 30 and the light-diffusing material 40 are uniformly mixed to configure the light excitation-diffusion sheet for the backlight units. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
