PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate setting operations conducted by a user for a merchandise sales data processing device. SOLUTION: Setting screens G1 to G4 for establishing setting items with the use of an operation part in the setting processing are displayed in an indicator 9 (Fig.(a) to Fig.(e)). In the setting screen G4 where an operation guidance message M is present, a guidance mark 21 showing that a guidance message M is present is indicated (Fig.(e)). According to the operation of the operation part for displaying the operation guidance message M, an operation guidance message M corresponding to the setting screen currently being displayed (the setting screen G4, for example) is made to be displayed in the indicator 9 (Fig.(f)).
