PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multibeam scanning optical device capable of realizing high-quality printing output by correcting an integral magnification difference and suppressing the positional shift amount of dots in the main scanning direction, and to provide an image forming apparatus that uses the multibeam scanning optical device. SOLUTION: The multibeam scanning optical device comprises a plurality of optical sources, a deflecting means of deflecting a plurality of laser beams emitted from the plurality of optical sources and a scanning optical means of imaging the plurality of laser beams, deflected by the deflection means on the surface of a photoreceptor. The scanning optical means is set so that the chromatic aberrations of magnification becomes overcompensed and the oscillation wavelength of the optical source for emitting the laser beam which minimizes the angle of the subscanning direction formed between the plurality of laser beams made incident to the surface of the photoreceptor and the normal of the surface of the photoreceptor becomes shorter than the oscillation wavelength of the optical source that emits the maximum laser beam.
