PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient refrigerator which automatically makes ice while reducing complicated work. SOLUTION: The refrigerator is equipped with an ice making part 20 for making ice with an ice-making tray 21, a water supply tank 5 for keeping water, water supply routes 12, 13 connecting to the water supply tank 5, for supplying water in the water supply tank 5 to the ice-making tray 21, a water supply pump 11 provided at the water supply route 13, an ion elution unit 10, with a pair of electrodes 18, 19 contacting with water to be supplied to the ice-making tray 21, for eluting metal ions including silver ion and the like by applying voltage between the electrodes 18, 19 and a water level detection means for detecting a water level by detecting electric current between the electrodes 18, 19. The water supply pump 11 is prevented from driving when the water level detection means detects that the water level of the ion elution unit 10 being immersed is lower than a predetermined quantity.
