PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic tensioner with a sensor, which has a sensor capable of detecting an initial fitting error, abnormal drawing, frictional drawing during use and limitation of stroke quantity of a belt on the basis of degree of rotation of a supporting point part in a space outside an actuator of an automatic tensioner for an auxiliary machine. SOLUTION: In this automatic tensioner A with a sensor, a tension pulley is connected to one end of an arm 1 supported by an engine block freely to swing, and an actuator 10 is connected to the other end of the arm through a lower end part 18 thereof. The actuator 10 has a push rod 12 and a hydraulic damper mechanism 15 inside thereof, and has a tensile force spring 19, which is inserted between a spring seat 13a and a flange part 18a of a connection part, outside thereof. The actuator is provided with a detecting sensor 20s, which is formed of a permanent magnet 24 and a hole IC21 corresponding to the permanent magnet, in an end surface of the lower end part 18 thereof.
