PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric propulsion device for a tuna longliner capable of making a quick shift to riding a tide after completion of hauling a line. SOLUTION: The tuna longliner catches tuna in a tuna longline method which sequentially transits shooting a line, wandering in the ocean, and riding a tide after completion of hauling the line. The electric propulsion device 20 in which first and second propellers 20, 21 are driven by first and second electric motors for propulsion 23, 24 rotating with electricity generated by generators 35, 35 of first and second engine units 31, 32 is provided. While controlling the generator of the second engine unit to be in a halting state when hauling the line, the device controls to additionally resume from the halting status by receiving an OFF operation signal from a switch 52a of a line hauler 52 on completion of hauling the line.
