<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium capable of performing good recording and regeneration by a laser with a wavelength of 300-900 nm, and a new composition. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium comprises respectively at least one kind of coloring matters (B) absorbing the laser light to form a recording mark and phenolic compounds (C) in a recording layer (called to be A) which can be formed by a coating method.
