PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor in which the power supply efficiency can be considerably enhanced and a control method therefor.

SOLUTION: The information processor and the control method thereof for executing processing in accordance with various operation contents by an external input are provided with: a communication means for transmitting/receiving various data to/from an external device; a current supply means for supplying a drive current to various circuits including a communication means; a detection means for detecting a carrier with a prescribed high frequency band outputted from the external device; and a control means for controlling the current supply means so as to supply the drive current to the communication means on the basis of a detection result of the carrier by the detection means.
