<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood sugar elevation inhibitory agent or an antioxidant, capable of performing the inhibition of the elevation of the blood sugar or of oxidative stress caused by free radicals or active oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: This blood sugar elevation inhibitory agent is characterized by using a flavonoid obtained from a plant belonging to the genus Commelina of Commelinaceae as an active ingredient.
