PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable type steering device capable of more stably and precisely performing tension adjustment of an inner cable by an electrical drive control without adjusting the tension of the inner cable only with a mechanical configuration. SOLUTION: When roller members 25a, 25b abutting to inner cables 7b, 8b by a spring force of a coil spring 31 of a cable tension detection device 14 is turned by a tensile reduction due to the elongation of the inner cables 7b, 8b, a lever member 27 is integrally oscillated accordingly in the direction of the arrow C, and the tension of the inner cables 7b, 8b is detected from the rotation angle of a rotary shaft 29 at that time. An output shaft 24 is rotated by drive-controlling a motor 22 of a cable tension adjusting device 13 based on the detection signal from a sensor body 28, and the tension of the inner cables 7b, 8b is adjusted by moving outer tube connecting parts 21a, 21b of a device body 21 screwed with the output shaft 24.
