PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceiling mounted X-ray imaging assembly. SOLUTION: A carriage assembly 24 is mounted to a track assembly 16 and allowed to move linearly. An extendable column 34 is rotatably mounted to the carriage assembly and has a carriage mount end 36 and a patient directional end 38. The carriage mount end is rotatable about a vertical axis 43 located at a vertical rotation part 48 positioned in proximity to the carriage mount end. An X-ray tube assembly 40 is rotatably mounted to the extendable column adjacently to a patient directional end and is rotatable about a horizontal axis 52 located at a positioned horizontal rotation part. A communication cable assembly 54 provides communication between the X-ray tube assembly and the carriage assembly.
