PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device enabling a user to select a terminal operation such as the actuation of a program, the switching of the program and the termination of the program with less number of times of button operation. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a link information storing means 14 for storing a correspondence table for linking an operation button selected by the user with programs activated by the selection of the operation button, and an activated program monitoring unit 12 for dynamically monitoring operation states of a plurality of the programs activated on a terminal side. The device causes the user to select the operation button in which a backlight is turned on in response to a monitoring result by the unit 12, thereby easily activating, switching and terminating the program corresponding to each operation button.
