PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater with a sterilizing function capable of preventing excessive increase of silver ion concentration in supplied water or supplied hot water, even when abnormality occurs in power distribution, when power distribution control is additionally implemented to adjust a dissolving operation of silver ion. SOLUTION: In the power distribution control by alternately switching a pair of electrodes 51, 52 by a prescribed time with a prescribed current value on the basis of polar command from a power distribution control portion 65 to a polarity switching circuit 82 and a current value command to a constant current circuit 81, the occurrence of wiring short circuit in any of places is determined, power distribution abnormality occurrence detection is output from an abnormality occurrence detecting portion 66 to the power distribution control portion, and the power distribution control portion cuts off the power distribution by turning a power source cut switch 84 to a power distribution OFF side, when a voltage detecting portion 83 detects more than prescribed voltage drop.
