PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for dividing a connecting rod which is capable of reducing a time lag between pre-rupture and post-rupture to the utmost. SOLUTION: The device has a fixed stage 62 fixed on a base 60, a movable stage 64 provided so as to be freely capable of approaching to or separating from the fixed stage 62, a load mechanism 58 for imparting a breaking load in the press-fitting direction of a wedge member 122, and second hydraulic cylinders 146a, 146b for clamping a cap part by pressing the end parts of third workpiece supporting members 130a, 130b from above. The third workpiece supporting members 130a, 130b and the second hydraulic cylinders 146a, 146b are respectively fixed to the movable stage 64 and provided so as to be capable of displacing integrally with the movable stage 64.
