The method involves varying a tension of an electric drive of an electrically propelled toy by a manually operating controller (6) within a tension range and determining performance of the electric drive and/or a proportional parameter for the performance. The tension is detected at contact tracks (2, 3). Power input of the drive and control signals are directly and/or indirectly detected. An independent claim is also included for a toy racing track.
