<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solar cell or a photocell wherein a charge transport distance is short, recombination and a reverse reaction are suppressed to the minimum or prevented, and which can be easily mass-produced. <P>SOLUTION: An article comprising a substrate (12) and a cylinder structure, wherein the cylinder structure comprises a semiconductor and a vertical axis of the cylinder structure is arranged on the substrate (12) almost perpendicular to the substrate (12), is disclosed.
