CATALYST FOR DECOMPOSITION OF NITROUS OXIDE AND METHOD OF DECOMPOSING NITROUS OXIDE USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst capable of decomposing and removing nitrous oxide in exhaust gas efficiently and effectively even in a low-temperature range of e.g. ≤300°C.

SOLUTION: The catalyst for decomposition of nitrous oxide consists of at least one element of the group VIII in the periodic table supported with alumina prepared by hydrolysis of an alkoxide. A method of decomposing nitrous oxide using the catalyst is also provided.
