PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that ensures efficient workability, sustains strength and assures high heat efficiency. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: an excitation coil and a coil holder, made of a resin, for holding the excitation coil; a magnetic flux generating means having a plurality of magnetic cores; and an induction heat generating body for generating heat by electromagnetic induction caused by a magnetic flux generated by the magnetic flux generating means. The fixing apparatus applies thermal energy, produced by heat generated by the induction heat generating body, to a material, such as paper, which is heated while conveyed. In the fixing device, each of the magnetic cores is a core unit formed by causing a liquefied resin to flow so as to integrally cover a core with gaps G formed. The excitation coil is held in the coil holder in such a way as to remain a predetermined distance apart from the induction heat generating body. The coil holder is composed in combination with the core unit such that the excitation coil and the magnetic coil are disposed with a predetermined distance between them. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
