PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To primarily provide a projection system which can provide high-contrast display without being influenced by environmental light and has superior visibility from the inside to the outside of the projection system. SOLUTION: In the projection system having a projection screen which has a substrate and a polarized light selectively reflective layer formed on the substrate and diffusing and reflecting clockwise circular polarized light or counterclockwise circular polarized light and reflects irradiation video light from a projector to display video, the projector which projects the video light on the projection screen, and an external light screen which is fitted to an external light incidence opening and has a linear polarizing plate and an optical retardation plate in this order from the external field side and constitutes circular polarized light reverse to the circular polarized light diffused and reflected by the polarized light selective reflective layer, the projection system is characterized in that the axis of transmission of the linear polarizing plate is perpendicular.
