PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of color slippage due to displacement of images with each other, by surely suppressing transient scanning line displacement, deflection, tilt and the like which are caused by the temperature variation of a resin-made imaging device included in a scanning imaging optical system. SOLUTION: The optical scanner is equipped with a first imaging optical system installed for the purpose of introducing a luminous flux from one or more light sources to a light deflecting means through an optical element, a second imaging optical system installed for the purpose of converging the luminous flux deflected by the deflecting means on a surface to be scanned as a light spot and scanning at uniform speed, and a posture control mechanism 100 which presses and holds in the sub-scanning direction at least one optical element 25 provided in the second imaging optical system and which controls the posture of the optical element at least in one direction. The posture control mechanism 100 is characterized in that an operational attitude is set in accordance with the output value of a temperature gradient detecting means 150 installed in the body of the scanner.
