PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a tow band improving the opening homogeneity of the tow band by forming a uniform tow band from a multiple number of tow threads, also imparting sufficient crimps to the formed tow band stably and capable of producing the tow band having an excellent opening homogeneity and processing stability. SOLUTION: This method for producing an acetate tow band by bundling a multiple number of acetate filaments to produce acetate tow threads and bundling a multiple number of the tow threads to produce the tow band is characterized by comprising processes of imparting water content to the tow threads after producing the tow threads to make≥5 and≤20% water content, forming the tow band by bundling the multiple number of the acetate tow threads provided with water content as a belt form to produce the tow band, imparting water content to the tow band and also imparting the crimps to the tow band provided with water content.
