PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a valve opening/closing timing control device which can perform start operation of an engine or the like preferably and quickly. SOLUTION: Hydraulic oil required for control of relative rotational phase and lock oil required for lock control can be supplied to the valve opening/closing timing control device 100 from at least one of a first pump 70a operated by a driving force of the engine E and a second pump 70b as an electrically driven pump. The second pump 70b is capable of operating when the first pump 70a is inoperative while the engine E is not operating. At the point of expecting the start of the engine E, the valve opening/closing timing is set at a relative rotational phase appropriate for the start. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
