摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure magnitude and direction of a cutting resistance generated on a cylindrical gear material during machining in a gear hobbing machine. SOLUTION: A three-component dynamometer 7 is fixed to a rotary base 6 of a main spindle 2 of the gear hobbing machine, and the cylindrical gear material W is mounted to the three-component dynamometer 7 with a clamp 8. A detector 12 is mounted to the rotary base 6, and the rotational position of the main spindle 2 of the gear hobbing machine is detected with a rotational position sensor 13. The cylindrical gear material W is rotated by the main spindle 2 of the gear hobbing machine and fed while a hob is rotated by a hob cutter main spindle 3, and a predetermined gear is generated by a relative motion between the cylindrical gear material W and the hob 19. The load acting on the cylindrical gear material W is directly measured by the three-component dynamometer 7 during machining. The magnitude and the direction of the cutting resistance generated on the cylindrical gear material W is calculated with a calculating device 17 based on the measured load and the rotational position of the main spindle 2 of the gear hobbing machine detected with the rotational position sensor 13.
