PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bristle material for a polishing brush excellent in dressing workability compared with a conventional one, having high polishing performance to a workpiece, and capable of suppressing occurrence of polishing mottles. SOLUTION: The bristle material for a polishing brush is composed of a synthetic resin monofilament including polishing abrasive grains. The cross-sectional shape vertical to a fiber axis of the synthetic resin monofilament is formed into a square shape or a nearly square shape whose ratio of the major axis to the minor axis is in the range of 1.00-1.15.
