A safety system for a silo, especially a grain silo with metal panels has pressure relief vents (18) on the top surface to vent excess pressure due to various circumstances including dust explosions. The vents are held onto seals by sprung mountings and are lifted by excess internal pressure. A simple vent design has a rectangular lipped frame fitted over an opening in the roof and provided with an elastic seal and sprung hinges to hold a cover.
