<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high capacity and a good cycle property. <P>SOLUTION: The anode for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery has an activator layer 2 and surface layers 3a, 3b for current collection. The surface layers 3a, 3b have many holes 4 opened thereon, communicating with the activator layer 2. The activator layer 2 contains active material particles 2a with high lithium compound forming capacity, having capacity higher than that of graphite, and particles 2b of carbon based material or rubber like material.
