PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately carry out emission control of a light emitting means set at an ink tank, according to an installation position of the ink tank in the ink tank which is set in an apparatus that supplies signals by a common signal line to installation positions of a plurality of liquid containers (ink tanks). SOLUTION: The ink tank is equipped with a memory array 103B which holds color information of ink and the like information related to the stored ink, and a light emitting part 101 such as an LED. The ink tank is also equipped with a control circuit 103A as a control part which controls lighting and extinction of the light emitting part 101 according to the information related to the stored ink which is inputted from the recorder side, and the held information. Detection of whether or not the ink tank is set at a correct position is thus enabled. Moreover, an increase of the number of contacts for information delivery and reception can be avoided.
