1,207,869. Stud fastenings. AMERICAN STANDARD Inc. 30 Jan., 1968 [1 Feb., 1967], No. 4600/68. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] An anchoring device for securing a fitting 22 such as the hinge of a toilet seat to a water closet 20, comprises a deformable tubular sleeve 12, a nut element 13 adapted to be fixed in, or at, one end of the sleeve, a spacer having an interior passage, adapted to be positioned at the other end of the sleeve, co-axial therewith, and a threaded screw member 14; the anchoring device being such that when used for securing the fitting, the screw member passes through a fixing hole 28 in the fitting through the spacer and the sleeve to engage the nut element, compressing the sleeve and bringing the spacer to bear against the portion of the fitting adjacent the hole, the spacer being so shaped that when the said portion has a predetermined shape, relative rotation between the spacer and the fittings is prevented. The nut element 13 can have a screw thread or can be made of a material which enables the screw member 14 to cut its own thread. It can be bonded or vulcanized to the sleeve or can have projections or recesses engaged by the sleeve to prevent relative rotation.
|
