PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system by which a section existing at a deep position from the surface of a subject such as a lymph node can be detected and which is constituted at low cost. SOLUTION: The endoscope system comprises: first and second endoscopes 2 and 26 which respectively emits infrared light and visible light and respectively has an imaging means with which the infrared light and visible light can be observed; a CCU 15 which processes an imaging signal of the imaging means of respective first and second endoscopes and generates a video signal; a monitor 6 for displaying an observation image by the first and second endoscopes based on the video signal from the CCU 15; and a control circuit 10 which prohibits emitting of the infrared light and visible light from the second endoscope 26 when infrared light is emitted from the first endoscope 2 and which prohibits emitting of the infrared light and visible light from the first endoscope 2 when infrared light is emitted from the second endoscope 26.
