The control key system (100) for smart fabrics, in garments e.g. where music can be played by the wearer, has keys (10) with an electrical resistance R(p) (11) which varies in reverse proportion to pressure when pressed or when the fabric is creased. Increased pressure gives a lower electrical resistance. An ohmmeter (20) measures the resistance, which generates a threshold value (27). The threshold value is compared at a comparator (40) with a reference value (28) from a memory (30) to determine if the key has been pressed.
