The device (10) has an odor trap with at least one blocking flap in the down pipe section and movable between open and closed positions that allows water to pass in the open position and at least reduces the passage cross-section in the closed position and an especially sprung restoring device that biases the flap in the closed position. The flap can be moved by the effect of rain water in the pipe section from the closed to the open position against the effect of the spring. An independent claim is also included for an odor trap.
