A DA converter converts predetermined digital data into analog data. Cyclic pattern data whose output data from the DA converter has a symmetric waveform is inputted to the DA converter. By observing higher harmonic component of even number degree 2f<SUB>0</SUB>, 4f<SUB>0</SUB> for the basic frequency f<SUB>0</SUB> of the cyclic pattern data, it is judged that the DA converter is preferably operating when no higher harmonic component of even number degree 2f<SUB>0</SUB>, 4f<SUB>0</SUB> exist.
