<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a platemaking method of a lithographic printing plate material which considerably reduces a defect of an image due to the dust brought about in production of the material, or in conveyance or handling in platemaking equipment, and sticking to the surface of a printing plate and excels in on-press developability, and a lithographic printing method. <P>SOLUTION: The lithographic printing plate material which has an on-press developable thermal image forming layer on a base having a hydrophilic surface is subjected to image exposure and then the material subjected to the image exposure is developed on a printing press to prepare a lithographic printing plate.
