PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber Bragg grating element that is excellent in heat resistance and detects change in external environment with high sensitivity. SOLUTION: The fiber Bragg grating element, in which a prescribed length of a Bragg grating is written in the core of an optical fiber consisting of a core and a clad, is characterized in that, in the range not shorter than the prescribed length including the Bragg grating, a metallic film is provided densely covering the outer circumference of the optical fiber and having a melting point of≥300°C and a Young's modulus of≥100 GPa.
