PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition designed to have a higher response speed in a TN mode and to provide an electrooptic device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition is characterized in that it is prepared by adding a chiral material and an ultraviolet-curing liquid crystal to a nematic liquid crystal. The composition is embodied by one characterized in that it is prepared by adding a chiral material and an ultraviolet-curing liquid crystal to a nematic liquid crystal and the amount of the ultraviolet-curing liquid crystal is 5 to 10 wt.% based on the nematic liquid crystal.
