PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane module which can prevent a sediment from tangling with a hollow fiber membrane to operate stably also in the use of treating wastewater containing the sediment. SOLUTION: In a membrane module, one ends of a plurality of hollow fiber membranes are each a separated free end, and the other ends are connected to a water collecting portion. A hollow fiber membrane module unit in which a plurality of the membrane modules are arranged in parallel is immersed in a water tank to which raw water flows, with the water collecting portion located on the lower side.
