PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an observation optical system of an endoscope improving the observation performance of the mucosa of an organism. SOLUTION: This observation optical system 1 of the endoscope is characterized in responding to both of a visible-light regular observation and a blood vessel highlighted observation defining an absorption peak of hemoglobin existing in wavelength band of 480 nm or less as the main component of the display image, having a tendency of leaving the axial chromatic aberration of the observation optical system 1 in the light with the wavelength of 415 nm in an insufficient correction state, and setting a focused object position in the blood vessel highlighted observation in a near-point side closer than the focused object position in the visible-light regular observation.
