The invention relates to a method and to a device for analysing the retinal vessels by means of digital images. The aim of the invention is to increase the separation ability between healthy vessels and vessels at risk, with reduced manual and temporal expenditure, in order to determine in a reliable manner the individual vessel risk, in particular for cerebral apoplexy accidents. The subjective systematic and accidental errors are reduced. Along the vessel sections in an annular-shaped measuring area arranged about the papilla, the vessel segment diameter, the type of vessel and the image co-ordinates are determined for a sequence of successively connected vessel segments and are stored for the vessel segment with an image evaluated and a reference image captured in a temporally offset manner in addition to a displacement vector which is determined for the vessel segment between the reference image and an evaluated comparison image. The comparison measurements are only carried out on identical vessel segments already measured in the reference image, and the allocation of the vessel segments to the vessel sections and to the type of vessel is undertaken in an unmodified manner from the reference image. A path of co-ordinate related vessel segment diameters as the basis for the determination of characteristic quantities and the local resolution path representation thereof, i.e. in path images, can be obtained for all measured vessel segments by the stored data sets of the vessel segments of the reference images and the comparison images. |
